Offshore Oil & Gas Medical Assessments

International Medical Clinic now has two fully accredited doctors available to perform offshore oil and gas medical assessments for employees – Dr Ho Tzin Yih at the Camden Clinic and Dr Chris Eldridge at  the Jelita Clinic

Every person who works at an oil or gas offshore facility is required to have a medical assessing his or her fitness to work in the offshore environment. Happily, IMC can now offer these services at both the Singaporean clinics.

Although there are various standard examinations around the world, the UK Offshore Operations Association (UKOOA) medical is probably the most common requirement. UKOOA fitness certification lasts up to two years and needs to be renewed for continuing work offshore.

The medical examination includes a comprehensive medical history and physical examination. A urine check (for protein and sugar), height, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation, blood pressure and pulse, basic eye sight tests including colour vision and hearing test are also preformed. Lung function testing or cardiac testing may also be required. Further checks maybe required depending on the findings of the above tests and the medical history of the examinee.
