We are passionate about healthcare and have been supporting ‘Caring for Cambodia’ as our designated charity for over 7 years. Caring for Cambodia (CFC) is a non-profit, non-governmental, charitable organization committed to ensuring a high-quality education for 6,400 children in Siem Reap, Cambodia. They train teachers, provide clean, child-friendly classrooms and deliver health and welfare support.
It is impossible to teach an ill or unhealthy child and for this reason IMC supports CFC through the provision of free health checks and essential vision screenings. Our staff visit the CFC schools on multiple occasions throughout the year and deliver healthcare support.
Vision and Health Checks
Children are each administered a vision test to identify those who may need corrective treatment. Students identified as needing further evaluation are brought to the Eye Clinic at Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap. Here they receive appropriate treatment and eyeglasses. Further to vision screenings we check BMI, height weight and identify any underweight children.
First Aid training
In addition to the Health Checks we also conduct First Aid training to CFC schools and local communities. Our trained nurses also deliver health alerts and updates (for example, we discussed the Zika virus in our last trip).
